Hi Gr4,
Tuesday evenings practice was excellent. Thanks to everyone who joined. We
missed seeing some of you on zoom and getting the 1:1 practice with Adam.
We worked through our new march-in 6/8 tune: Pipe Sergeant John Barclay,
spending the whole evening's practice working through each part. Adam
recommends getting this sorted out for next Tuesday's practice and get it
up on the pipes as well. Remember, this tune is part of the Gr3 Medley so
we can play it as a combined Gr3 Gr4 band. Hold those dots!
To help with 6/8 technique, go to Rhythmic Fingering Lesson #23 on Box
(attached below). Listen for crossing noises. Not to memorize, but to
become fluent on both chanter and pipes. What the heck... exercises on the
pipes? Who does that? ...maybe we should?
And if that wasn't enough, Adam introduced the closed D Throw, as 99% of us
were raised on the open D Throw. Attached is the Rhythmic Fingering Lesson
#90 also found on Box.
See you next week.
Regards,
John
