Soloists! Please consider giving your proxy to someone  going if you can’t
attend.

As you may remember, this weekend will see the annual meeting of WUSPBA
-- and it's practically next door, in Sacramento. I know that a few of
our members are planning to attend. Remember: if you are registered as a
solo competitor, you're allowed a vote on the solo competition rules and
in the elections for officers, but you must be present to cast your
vote. If you're not planning to attend, you may designate someone who
will be there as your proxy.

Take a look at the agenda and see if there's anything you have an
opinion on. I'd say that the odds are pretty good. :)

From a band perspective, the only proposed band competition changes have
to do with grade 5, or with juvenile members who play with a school band
but want to play up during the summer. However, there are solo contest
proposals and officer elections.

And really, this is an opportunity to come together with other musicians
in a non-competition setting and have wide ranging conversations. I
encourage anyone who has the time to come out at least for the day.
